Focus on the Environment

The Congregation of St. Joseph is deeply committed to achieving unity with the earth. We are called to love and care for the “dear neighbor,” both person and planet. Steps we have taken as a community include:

Replacing gasoline-powered cars with those fueled by natural gas.
Restoring our grounds to be user-friendly and chemical free.
Designing a nature trail system.
Creating wildscape areas for birds, deer, and other creatures.
Conserving energy and water.
Recycling and using recycled products.
Exploring earth-friendly renewable forms of energy, such as solar and wind power.

Working with other community organizations to promote environmental awareness.

Reducing the use of disposable products.
Buying fair trade goods.
Educating staff, residents, and guests about conservation practices.
